Week 3: Storyboarding

Image
My group decided to begin with a dolly shot of our main girl character as she walks into a dimly lit area. The girl then slides down and sits on the ground, which is when the camera shot reveals that she is bloody and bruised. The next camera shot is a close up of the girls face while she is shaking. As the camera zooms in, flashbacks from previous memories are revealed. These flashbacks display pieces of the sequence of events that led to the girl's current state. As the flashbacks are shown at a faster pace, tension is continuously building before the scene cuts. The final piece of the opening is of a black screen that reads "24 hours earlier", so the rest of the movie would be an explanation of what happened and led to the events that occurred in this opening scene. Week 2: Brainstorming

Film Notes Rise The camera placed in the trunk of the car was a really creative place to take a camera shot. The opening also included some other innovative camera shots, including the bird's eye shot of the boy walking and dropping his things in the grass. It was cool to hear the music get intense as the boy shot goals and then fade when a separate person began talking, but the shifts in the music level did seem a bit too dramatic at some points. However, I thought the music choice fit for this opening scene because it created a dramatic tone. Offline I will admit at first I was confused at what was happening in the film. At first, I did not recognize  that it was the same girl in both versions of the story, but once I did, the music seemed to suit the drama film. I could see that the makers on the film were attempting to create an effect of contrast by depicting the girl in both the cage and her daily life at what appears to be the same time. Inspiration to choose Horror

I was inspired to choose the horror genre because I find the process of filming and producing a horror film very interesting because of how the movie effects make the movie appear to have twists and cause suspense. For example, the movie The Shallows uses an extensive amount of cuts in order to transition from one scene to the next in a manner that has the audience on the edge of their seat for the majority of the movie. The Shallows opens will a scene of a child playing with a soccer ball on the beach near the water. As the child continues playing down the beach, he stubbles upon a camera helmet that has washed ashore. The child opens the camera and begins to play its film. The camera film depicts the point of view of a surfer as he surfs with another friend, but all of the sudden he falls into the water. Then you hear him screaming and it appears that he is struggling under the water, and the final shot of the camera shows a shark coming straight at the person with the camera on hi
