Week 7 Editing Film Opening

Image
Unfortunately, due to difficulties in organizing a time when all members of the group can get together, we have not finished filming our opening. On the other hand, we have begun piecing together and editing some of the clips we have taken thus far.  When it comes to the editing process, we have begun to organize the clips into an order in which we believe the film will make the most sense and be the most suspenseful. In the clips we have edited so far, there is a lot of cutting back and forth between both of the characters in our film. We also included some clips that display visuals from the point of view of the stalker, as well as an over the shoulder shot. We have yet to come up with a specific title for our movie, but we have begun brainstorming ideas.

Week 6 Filming

This week our group continued to film our opening. This week we decided to try out some new camera angles and shots in order to fully plan out the rest of the opening. We took some shots of our actress Kelly as she played a scared girl being stalked by a mysterious stranger.   We chose to try some shots of Kelly inside in order to give ourselves options for clips to include in our opening when it came time to edit and put it all together. We took shots of Kelly in a separate outfit to show that time had passed since the stalker had last been watching her. This also allows the rest of the movie to be based on this background information, so it can fill in the pieces and answer questions that the opening left unanswered.

Week 5 Filming

This week our group began filming parts of our opening scene. Our first step was to find the perfect location to film the scenes of our actress going through parts of her normal day. Thus, my group and I decided to film in the parking lot and at the Starbucks of the Kings Lake Plaza. We then took videos of our actress, Kelly, doing activities, such as buying a coffee, walking around, and driving. We also filmed scenes of her stalker/the bad guy following Kelly around the plaza. We ended up making our villain a girl (Zoe) instead of a boy because it was easier for us as a group of girls to use her as an actor. The Kings Lake Plaza was perfect for these scenes because it has plenty of stores and space to make it appear more realistic. The lighting of our scenes came out perfect as the sun was out, and the quality of our videos was also very clear and came out well. The only issue we encountered was finding a way to film Kelly driving with Zoe following without getting in the way o

Week 4 Preparing to Film

When it comes to the actors of the opening, we will have two: a girl (main character) and boy (villain). We are still deciding who will be the actors in our film, but we will finalize them soon. The costumes used in the film will be damaged/bloodied clothing on both the girl and boy, as well as the clean version of both for the flashback scenes. In regard to the props used in the opening, we will be using a fake knife as the villain's weapon, basic objects to make the background look normal, and fake blood. We will be filming a normal and bright area for the flashbacks and a darker area to give a more suspenseful and mysterious effect. At the moment we are undecided on when we plan on filming the opening, but we will know very soon. We will not be writing a script since there is not any dialogue between the characters in the film, except for the girl screaming at certain points. We will have suspenseful and/or happy music playing the background of the film. We will be using both a
